Sign up and create your profile

  • Go to ouishare.net/admin
  • add your information and click "sign up"
  • complete your profile: don't forget to add a picture - please add your social networks and email address if you would like others to be able to contact you!

"Edit profile" option is in the top right corner, opening from an arrow next to your profile picture, but this part of the navbar disappears in smaller screens, so if you can't see it, you can try the direct link: ouishare.net/users/edit

If you would like access the part of the backend where you can edit or add content to the site, please send an email to auli@ouishare.net

Editing rights

There are four types of users on ouishare.net

1. Users - can only access and edit their own profile

2. Editors - can access their profile + edit events, projects, local communities and knowledge groups

3. Connectors - can access their profile + edit events, projects, local communities and knowledge groups + are automatically displayed on the page Team (ouishare.net/team)

4. Advisors - can access their profile + are automatically displayed on the page Advisors (ouishare.net/advisors)

By default when signing up everyone is a "user", so if you need editing rights, please contact auli@ouishare.net.

All user types can also additionally be made admins, which means they can edit the full site (for security reasons this ability should only be given to a limited number of people).

How to edit and add content

NB! Since the design update in July 2015, there is a new tutorial with screenshots available here >>

Events

  1. When logged in, go to the backend dashboard at ouishare.net/admin.
  2. Click on "Events" in the navigation bar
  3. Now you will see a list of existing events. To create a new events, click on the orange text that says "create" under "English Events". Please do not create any events under the other languages, as your event will not be visible otherwise.
    • For localized versions of OuiShare website it is necessary to create events underrespective languages. We are working on getting "English" events being displayed by default in addition to localized events.
  4. After clicking "create", you will be taken to a empty event page that you can now fill with your content. Make sure that you have clicked the checkbox "visible" at the top. If you would like the event to be visible in the navigation bar, also select "display on menu".
  5. Other fields to be filled out:
    • Address: please fill the entire address of the event location, as this will generate a google maps preview.
    • Image: you need to upload the same image twice for it to show up on the event page as well as the website homepage.
    • Formatting your text: in all text boxes where it says (markdown) in parenthesis, you can use the Markdown formatting method (described in detail below.)
    • Select organizers: If you would like organizers of an event or project to appear on the event page, just select the name of the people you would like to appear in the list of names at the bottom of each page editor.
    • Save your event: when you are done adding all your content, don't forget to click the "save event" button at the bottom of the page.

  4. After clicking "create", you will be taken to a empty project page that you can now fill with your content.

Community Pages

See the tutorial for how to edit community pages >>

Since July 2015 we can link events and projects to communities (from the /admin backend). Also website members can go and add themselves to communities by clicking "Join" on the community page in the frontend. Because of this each community has only one language-neutral page that is listed under "English". For communities, other languages' listings are not used since July 2015. Therefore if you need to add a community, please make sure it's listed under English, otherwise it will not be shown.

NB! If you are a connector with site admin rights, and you wish to be displayed among the members of a community, please make sure you join in the front end part. The connections created in the old way, by selecting individual members via back office, are now reserved to designate the official community leaders only. These are displayed separately at the top of the community page, as well as among primary contacts in communities' listing.

Community pages are kept up to date thanks to our community page stewards. A steward is the person responsible for making sure their local community or project page is up to date to communicate its current activities externally. This does not mean the steward has to be the person who actually updates the page, but makes sure somebody or several team members do and that they have the information/website access they need to do so. As a steward, you are advised to put a reminder in your calender every 6 months to check in on whether your page is up to date.

You can find the current list of stewards here.

Knowledge groups

  1. When logged in, go to the backend dashboard at ouishare.net/admin.
  2. Find "Expert groups" page (under Community Page > Exp Groups page > Expert Groups for now, we'll move it in a better place in the menu soon)
  3. Now you will see a list of existing knowledge groups. To create a new one, click on the orange text that says "Create" under "English Expert Groups".
You can also click here directly to create a new knowledge group (you have to be logged in on the website, though!)
  4. After clicking "create", you will be taken to a empty expert group page that you can now fill with your content.
    • Name: Name of the knowledge group
    • Link: Link to the facebook group that you use, or another primary communication channel
    • Text: Short description of your group's objectives
    • Users: Here you can select the users you would like to display as your group members on the groups page.

Formatting your text

Our website is using a formatting type called Markdown. Markdown enables you to make text bold, italic, headers, links and more by adding simple characters. Check this short descriptionon how to use markdown formatting.

Embedding images & videos

If you would like to embedd images or video previews in a page, you can do so very easily by simply adding the link directly in the text like this:

Join us for the second OuiShare Drink in Budapest next week. http://image.url.com

The image or video preview will appear automatically.

Standard image sizes

  • Top Banner: 1920x775
  • Project and events: 970x330
  • Top image for internal pages: 1800x480
  • Donation images: 600x230
  • Research projects: 550x250

Adding individuals to events, projects and communities

If you would like members of community or organizers of an event or project to appear on the community/event/project page, just select the name of the people you would like to appear in the list of names at the bottom of each page editor.

Landing page slides

Landing page slides give the possibility to highlight a few OuiShare projects or campaigns. Currently it is possible toupload an image and define the button text with a target link.

If you make another slide for the landing page, please add it also to the folder Website Sliders & FB Covers on Drive so that we can re-use the image if necessary.

Keeping content up to date

In 2016 OuiShare introduced having a"Steward" for each community and project page, to make sure these are kept up to date. This means that each community and project appoints a Steward that is responsible for making sure a page is up to date on the website, to make sure it reflects the current activities of the community. This enables us to keep our website content up to date in a distributed manner, given the many activities happening in parallel.
